World Rediscovers Station Following Move!

It's only been a month since our forced relocation to a new streaming provider but many of our old listeners have found our new home.  Many new listeners from all parts of the planet have joined us in the past month of broadcasting. The map above shows the location of our audience.  The dark shading in the U.S. and Canada indicates our largest audience is in North America but the lighter shading shows how widespread our international coverage has become.

We extend a big thank you to our loyal listeners who followed us from our old home at Live365 to and an even bigger thank you to the new listeners who joined us!  Stay tuned because we are hard at work in the studio, adding new songs to our library.  Please tell your like-minded friends about our station and help us grow our audience even more.

Back In Business At A New Location!

Well, that was not a fun experience!  As detailed in prior posts, our Classic Alternative/New Wave internet station has moved offshore.  Not physically but virtually.  On January 31st, our previous stream provider Live365 went dark, forcing it's broadcasters to find new streaming services.  Fortunately,, based in Belgium and financed in part by media conglomerate Vivendi allows live streaming (our normal mode of operation).  Live streaming is important to Alt Class X since it allows us to program live from our studios as opposed to many stations which play a static playlist.  Our stream is also available "Stateside" via (Tunein Radio).

After much time in the studio, re-cutting station IDs and commercial breaks plus porting 1000 song files which will never be played on air (but are required as a backup), we are back to a "normal'" schedule.  It will be some time before our listenership is back to it's previous level (#1 rated for our genre of music) but we are already attracting listeners from all areas of the U.S., Canada and Europe! I hate to beg (but I will).  If you happen to like our type of music, drop by for a listen and share our new address with your like-minded friends.  Our current song library includes the likes of Elvis Costello, The Specials, The English Beat, Joy Division, The Clash, The Ramones, Devo, Psychedelic Furs, Erasure, The Police, Patti Smith and many more.  So drop by our lot, kick the tires, take it for a spin.  See you down the road!

Well Crap !!!!

I was just getting used to the neighborhood at (after 13 years!).  Now the neighborhood is going away.  The Gods Of Royalty have decided, with little notice, that small, independent internet broadcasters have to go away.  For most of this millennium small broadcasters have been allowed to operate under reduced royalty rates (compared to the Spotify, Apple Music, Rich Guy streamers). As of  January 31st, Live365 will cease operations, leaving scores of small broadcasters out in the cold.

(That was the bad news)

Now, on to the good news.

Alt Class X is in the process of moving Belgium.  Our new streaming provider is, a streaming provider founded by four Belgian entrepreneurs.  The name Radionomy is a combination of the words Radio and Autonomy...two of my favorite words!

It doesn't take a great deal of analysis to figure out the reason for the royalty rate increase.  The big streamers, Spotify, Apple Music, et al have been struggling.  How better to increase their audience than to get rid of the little scumbags who dare to stream music for the love of it!  The old small broadcaster rate was fair, considering that most of these broadcasters were not trying to become the next Clear Channel Broadcasting.  These people just loved creating small, independent channels for music they loved.

Many of these channels will go dark on January 31st, never to return.  The rest of us are headed offshore to Radionomy or other outlets.

Even if the music I stream on Alt Class X is not your favorite, give it a try...if only to shoot the proverbial finger at the Big Guys.  We are not avoiding paying the artist royalties.  Radionomy pays the royalties in exchange for placing ads onto our stations.

So come see/hear us in our new neighborhood.  Just head over to or click on the player on this page.
